A MESSAGE FROM CHARLIE CORBITT OF SOCCER INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Coaches, Parents, Players, and friends

In May 2007 I sent an e-mail to many of you regarding potential college soccer matches in Atlanta during the spring of 2008 involving teams from the University of Alabama Birmingham and the :place University of North Carolina .  The objective was to promote these games as a fund raising event.

Your response in support of this event was extremely positive and for that I am extremely thankful.  Unfortunately, it didn't take long for me to see that I wasn't in a position to orchestrate a project of this nature at that time. However, my passion to help families battle cancer has not decreased.  Over the past year, I've been looking into the feasibility of launching an initiative to turn my passion into a venture that I believe will go a long way toward "Helping Families Fight the Battle ".

"Soccer For A Cure" will be officially launched at the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) convention in :place Baltimore , Jan  17 - 19.  The concept will be to build team "Soccer For A Cure" by inviting every soccer coach, players, fans, and friends that we all know to "Stand Together" and become a member by making a small annual donation each year.  The emphasis is on a small donation.  This will provide a way for everyone to participate regardless of their economic level.  Those donating $5.00 or more each year will receive a window sticker that will increase the visibility of this venture and hopefully generate additional team membership. (Note: a donation of any amount from pocket change to what every amount you feel confortable with will certainly be a blessing).

A major objective of this venture will be to provide support to families struggling financially due to a family member in a battle with cancer. Financial support will be channeled through case/social workers of cancer clinics, charitable organizations, doctors offices, and hospitals in communities in every state.  Where possible, membership donations made to "Soccer For A Cure" will be routed back to the community of the donor.

The membership goal for the first year is to have 10,000 members by the end of 2008.  With that said, it would be great if we could have at least a couple hundred pledges of $5.00 before the end of the convention.  Many of you have known me for over 10 years through either the "College Soccer Scoreboard" or the "High School Soccer Scoreboard" so you know I'm in for the long haul.  I truly believe that a team of 10,000, 20,000, 30,000 ..and up .... from the soccer nation can make a difference and "Help Families Fight and Win the Battle ".

Please consider making a pledge of $5.00 by returning this e-mail, stating that you intend to make a donation, and if you attend the convention, bring a check payable to "Soccer For A Cure" to the Soccer Information Systems booth at the convention and pick up a window sticker.

If you do not attend the convention and wish to join this venture return this e-mail so I can add you to the convention member count, and send a $5.00 check payable to

"Soccer For A Cure" to:

Soccer For A Cure

12095 N Hickory Trace

Alpharetta , GA 30004

The window sticker will be sent to you by return mail.

It would be great to have a poster displaying membership count of 100, 200, or more before the close of the convention.

Please consider sending this e-mail to anyone in your address book that you believe would have an interest in becoming a member of this team.  Your help is needed if this venture is to grow and help more and more families over the coming years.

Finally, if you know someone that might have a interest in becoming a point person to help with fund raising events in their area or state, please ask them to send me an e-mail stating their interst in helping

Thanks in advance for your support.
